How Gabb Music is Changing Music Streaming
Kids are so much more connected than previous generations that it can be difficult to understand just how much is streamed into their consciousness.
This can be an amazing thing and also terrifying, depending upon what’s being presented to your kids.
As a parent, it’s important to know what your kids are listening to, because they’re listening to a lot of it.
Kids listen to a lot of music. In fact, according to the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, teenagers listen to an average of 2.5 hours of music every day, or the equivalent of 38 straight days of listening to music each year.
With so many kids and teens listening to music on a regular basis, and so many songs with questionable and explicit lyrics, Gabb could see there was a problem: There is no true kid’s music streaming platform.
Major streaming apps focus on a mostly adult user base, with kid and family friendly music as an afterthought. They use filters, but those can be bypassed, or in some cases, miss the explicit content altogether.
The problems with filters
Streaming services have explicit filters that work to varying degrees, but none fully filter all the available content—leaving gaps for kids where inappropriate content can squeeze through. Here are a few ways this can happen:
Incomplete information:
Filters rely on information supplied by record labels to tag songs as explicit, but if the information is not correct, explicit songs won’t be filtered out.
Uncensored videos:
Some streaming services don’t filter music videos the same as music—or at all—meaning kids may be accessing even more damaging content.
Inappropriate album covers:
Problematic album covers can easily slide through explicit filters if the artist’s music is not classified as explicit.
Innuendos:
Explicit filters rarely account for contextual language and subtle innuendo, making them useless if the words in a song are not blatantly explicit.
This is where Gabb Music is different. Rather than rely on filtering systems to stop music before it hits kids’ ears, we stop it before it reaches the app.
Gabb Music is Curated for Kids
Gabb Music sifts through millions of songs using industry-leading tools, including LyricFind’s state-of-the-art solution LyricIQ to identify and remove songs with explicit lyrics, innuendo, drug references, or otherwise inappropriate content.
Gabb’s own proprietary technology and human review of songs ensures all the music your kid is hearing is worry-free for you.
So next time you’re searching songs for your kid’s party, Gabb Music is the best way to push play.
An Ever-Growing Library
Gabb Music doesn’t have kid remake songs, and it’s not a collection of nursery rhymes. We pull from millions of songs across genres, and the list will never stop growing.
Here’s a sampling of the mixes on Gabb Music, so you can see some of the goods you can find on Gabb Music.

I added the music subscription to my daughter’s phone. The music app has shown up a couple months ago and I added the subscription today. When you open the app there are moving lines (like it’s thinning) and that’s it. What do we need to do to be able to listen to the music?

Hi Michelle, We're sorry you are experiencing some difficulty with the app. Just to clarify, are you referring to the Gabb Music app that allows you to stream clean music, or are you referring to our music app that allows you to add MP3 songs?
